When Martha Wayles Skelton married Thomas Jefferson, she brought many of her own items to their combined household. Among those items were two pairs of silver salt cellars made in London around 1768. The Monticello twisted salt spoon is a pewter reproduction of the spoons they would have used with their salt cellars.
